"Growing up, Neak soaked in stories from his father and uncles on their glory days of touring alongside legacy artists such as James Brown, Sam Cooke, Patti LaBelle, as 'The Kelly Brothers.' With soul and gospel roots placed firmly in his DNA, it was only a matter of time before those stories became the backdrop for his inspiration to create his own musical path."
Neak states, "My primary focus is as a Hip-Hop songwriter, music producer, and recording artist, aiming to foster human connection through relatable music that reflects everyday inner-city life from the listener's perspective. Since 2008, I've invested in a home studio to maintain a structured schedule for music production and collaboration. I've released multiple recordings, including over 10 solo projects, two live albums, two collaborative albums, and 38 singles. Additionally, I've organized and performed in two national tours spanning 25 cities (pre-pandemic), accumulating over 450K streams across major platforms and earning both local and national recognition for my work."
"The funds will support securing a venue for my upcoming event, an artist talk coinciding with the vinyl release of my latest album, 'Die Wurzel.' This event will feature a live listening session of the vinyl album followed by a Q&A session exploring album themes such as inner-city politics within African American culture and its interaction with Western Society."
