The following are excerpts from their proposal:
HEARTism vision: Bringing families together to celebrate the diverse gifts of children and young adults of all abilities through creative activities in a welcoming environment to encourage a life beyond labels.
HEARTism mission: To provide education and socialization for children and young adults of all abilities through exploration of the art, music, dance, nutrition and life skills activities, while offering support and education to families and the community.
We offer after school art, music, dance activities, weekly music therapy classes, summer camps and special events all for free to families. We provided 218 opportunities to participate in no cost learning this year! HEARTism was the first Certified Autism Center in Montana and has 2 Certified Autism Specialists who are also both on the autism spectrum and able to relate and connect with parents and children to help address concerns. Our Center is a sensory friendly place of acceptance, inclusion and fun.
Funds will put directly into our programming to continue offering afterschool art, music and dance classes. We hire professional instructors and therapists. Funds will pay for these services and also be used for supplies including art supplies and snacks for classes.
Pictured in the first photo are children from our first sensory camp proudly displaying their hand made tie-dye shirts. Next photo shows an art class with a local artist, HEARTism strives to provide both services and employment opportunities to people with disabilities. The last photo is from farm camp where children learn about growing food, feeding animals and kayaking on the pond.
